An Introduction to Takafumi Mori - Our New Piano Teacher From France

Plutarch, in defining an education in its truest sense, once said: “The mind is not a vessel to be filled, but a fire to be kindled”.

A quote that comes to mind and that best describes Takafumi Mori, our new piano teacher at the Aamod Centre of Liberal Arts.

Right from our first meeting since July 2013, his focus has been on motivating (read as: fire kindling) his students to make music a passion. Put simply, he takes teaching piano (and his students) very seriously in understanding this simple fact - as all excellent teachers do.

But that's not all – he has an impressive resume to boot – one that is marked by experiences that spans a couple of continents, both as a student and teacher, and will, sooner or later, lead one to conclude that his exploits so far are indeed stunning, if not exemplary.

Apart from this, he hails from a family that has roots that run deep in teaching classical music, be it is his father, a veteran music teacher or his sister, a classical violinist.

Yet what pleases us most, as we take the opportunity to introduce and welcome Takafumi Mori to our little music school in Whitefield, is that he loves India and despite the inherent challenges that we face each day, is enthusiastic about playing a key role in shaping the future of our piano students from January 2014.

The Aamod Centre of Liberal Arts - More Than Just a Music School

Put simply, the Aamod Centre of Liberal Arts has been around for a while - and by that, it's roughly about 10 years.

Yes, it's been that long, with our journey as a music school making a humble beginning at Palm Meadows at Ms. Sreela Deb's home - in a small garage - with just 3 children and no more.

It should come as no surprise that our logo, as displayed on the blog, reminds us of that till this very day.

But as with all things, our school has expanded and now moved on to 'greener pastures', if you will.

Now with that bit of information out of the way, it's time to review in a nutshell what we offer...

Probably the first thing that most visitors notice when they visit the school is that we offer both music, dance and art classes both in the Western and Indian format.

With about 140 students taking classes with us at the moment in Western music be it piano, violin, keyboards, guitar as well as Hindustani classical vocals and Kathak dance, the school is a place of bustling activity.

But there's more: we also offer art classes, shouldered deftly by Komal, and a tea room, in the able hands of Durga, whose menu is of the whole-wheat foods and exotic tea variety.

Last but definitely not the least, enclosed within the music school, is a Montessori  (also known as ACCEL) that exposes children between the ages of two-and-a-half to 6 years with a distinct focus on music and art.

So, if you live in Bangalore and are looking for a music school in Whitefield or even events related to art and music, you can get in touch with us in a number of ways.
